Gymnasium Wood Floor Wall

I wanted to show you this A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. room from Layla @ The Lettered Cottage!

She literally put an old gymnasium floor on the wall!  SO creative.  I love how she mixed it with the soft white in the room.  Beautiful!!

Go and check out the rest of her blog, she and her husband are one talented couple!

Before & After Curbside Dresser

My neighbors were getting rid of their white dresser and had just set it to the curb when I asked if I could take it!

Here is what it used to look like before I changed things up:

I painted it black, and purchased some brushed nickel knobs that I later painted antiqued bronze.

Entry Way Reveal!

Here it is!

Here is my how to:

I started with this -

I do not own a nail gun; therefor, I had to go the good 'ole hammer and nail approach!  A nail setter is a MUST if you go this route!

To complete this project I went to Lowe's and purchased the wide planked bead board, and a 5 inch wide molding.  Unfortunately, I had to purchase two sheets of the bead board due to the width being 9 inches too short.  BOO! (each sheet was $23 each)

I had Lowe's cut the height of the bead board, and the width of the top molding. (I also do not own a saw)

Then I puttied, caulked, and painted my little heart out!
I used the hooks from the mirror above and attached them to the molding.

Here she is all done!

I really love how this defines my entryway when you walk in and breaks up the brown I have in the one area.

I hope you love it as much as I do!

Closet Built-Ins

One of the things in my house I would like to change are the bi-fold closet doors, especially in our kitchen.  I saw these photos advertised on our local KSL site and fell in love!

Here is one of their projects before:

Here is the after:

This is a local company out of Orem, so if you are a local reader you can contact them at their website here.

Kitchen Faucet - Screaming Deal

I found a SCREAMING deal on this new kitchen faucet that I just had to share!

I know, I know, some may not be very interested in a post about a faucet.  However, THIS Delta faucet was the deal of the century, and the price alone deserves a few minutes of fame!  I found it at Lowes, originally $200 buckaroos, on clearance for ONLY $30!!!  That included the soap dispenser too!  I love the pull-out spout for long reach and easy clean-up! (I pulled that from their website :) corny...I know, but it is SO true!)

Is it just me, or do you guys decide you like a style or specific item even more when the price is just FANTASTIC?

Ideas On How To Make Your Own DIY Rugs

Rugs can be incredibly E.X.P.E.N.S.I.V.E.; however, I saw several different ideas on how to create your own DIY rugs that I thought you guys might find helpful and inspiring.

The first rug was done by Mandi from Vintage Revivals.  She is amazing and SO inspirational.  She came up with this great idea and carried it out to make one, totally awesome rug!

You can check out her full tutorial on her blog.

A lot of work, but definitely worth it for the final product!

And last, but definitely not least, a choose your own fabric DIY rug from high-heel foot in the doorShe has a great step by step tutorial, go check it out!

Thrift Store and KSL Lamp Finds

A few posts ago, I mentioned I was looking for a second lamp to compliment the one in our new guest room here.

Well, I found this one online @ KSL Classifieds for $15! -

And, I happened to come across this one for $10 at the local D.I. (Deseret Industries - thrift store) -

It did not come with a shade, but I switched the base out with the one I already had in my living room.

I love the crackle finish on it!

Recovered Ottoman Cubes

The photo below represents almost identically the ottoman cube I purchased from Target on clearance for $25/ea.  I purchased two of them.

(I couldn't find the before photo of the ACTUAL one I recovered, but this one below looks almost identical)

Before -

After:

The base of my original one was black, so I spray painted the bottom wood a dark brown.  After recovering it, I also added a single button cover and tufted the middle of the seat.

I love these because they have so many functions.  They can be used as stand alone seating shown above, or bench style seating shown below -

OR, as a coffee table -

So functional, I love them!

Another Thrift Store Find

I needed another end table and lamp for the other side of our guest room bed.  I wanted something different but coordinating.  I found this at another thrift store for only $15!

This piece is seriously OLD!  The one thing that I love about old pieces are how they are made.  Dovetailing makes a much sturdier drawer than how they are made now a days.

The paint will have to be stripped off, and then sanded before getting painted.  The original hardware is gross; I plan on adding these knobs below instead that I found at Hobby Lobby @ 50% off.  I think they will coordinate well with one another and would add to the character of the piece.

Now, only to find a lamp I like to compliment the one already in the room!

Stay tuned for more...
